Pipes made of polypropylene appeared on the domestic building materials market relatively recently, but have become very popular. Among their positive characteristics are:

  • inexpensive cost;
  • increased resistance to various aggressive influences;
  • long service life;
  • no plaque is formed on the inner walls of polypropylene products that can reduce the diameter of the pipeline:the heating boiler is tied with polypropylene by soldering, after which the connection becomes monolithic, excluding leaks.

The specifics of piping boilers with polypropylene

There are a number of nuances that owners of private houses who have opted for polypropylene products should be aware of (more details: ""). A huge advantage of polypropylene pipes is the ability to perform heating circuits of various configurations.

When arranging the heating system on your own, it should be remembered that the simpler the design scheme, the easier it will be to do the work. Complexity not only complicates installation, but also significantly reduces the efficiency of the heating structure.

Experts advise that when creating a heating system, use the least number of connections. All transitions should be as smooth as possible.

Installation of a polypropylene pipeline provides:
  • system operation for 40 years;
  • ability to withstand pressure exceeding 25 bar;
  • the safety of the pipes even if the coolant circulates at a temperature of 95 degrees (in more detail: "").
Despite the advantages of this material of manufacture, there are a number of limitations that must be taken into account if the heating boiler is piping with polypropylene when gas supply is used to operate the unit (read also: ""). The connection of the gas pipe to the boiler must be rigid. According to construction requirements, metal elements and paronite gaskets should be used for the connection.

A metal pipe is docked with a heat generator through the so-called "American" or squeegee. Only paronite is suitable as a gasket. Products made of rubber, fum tape and tow cannot be used. The fact is that paronite is obtained as a result of vulcanization of a mixture of mineral fillers, asbestos fibers and rubber - the material perfectly holds its initial shape, does not burn and provides excellent tightness. While the rubber sandwiched between the parts can narrow the size of the passage in the gas pipe, as a result of which the fuel supply will be reduced and it will be almost impossible to provide the required amount of heat from the boiler. Other gasket materials are prone to flammability.

The location of the boiler in the heating system

The main element in the heating circuit is the heating unit. The scheme according to which the piping of the heating boiler will be carried out largely depends on the type of this device.

The main rule for mounting the floor models shown in the photo is that they cannot be placed at the highest point of the pipe layout. If this condition is not met, then air pockets will form in the boiler without a device for removing trapped air. The supply pipe that exits the unit, in this case, should be placed strictly vertically.

The fact that an automatic air vent is installed in the model of an electric or gas boiler is indicated by the presence of branch pipes in its lower part, to which the supply pipe and return pipe are connected. They are usually installed in electrical or gas wall mounted equipment (read also: ""). This feature must be taken into account if the heating boiler is piping, since most models of wall-mounted monoblock boilers are equipped in such a way that they can independently get rid of trapped air.

Currently on sale are boilers equipped with a circulation pump, an expansion tank and a safety group, as well as devices without these additional elements. In the event that the unit does not have them, these devices can be easily purchased and installed in the circuit. When a consumer installs a system with natural circulation, these elements are usually not required. But if the heating circuit will work on the forced movement of the coolant, then one cannot do without a pump, a tank and a safety group.

Options for piping heating boilers

All piping options, depending on the circulation of the coolant, are divided into two groups:
  • with natural movement;
  • with forced movement.
In the second group there are subgroups that differ in the type of wiring.

Creating contours with natural circulation

Systems with such a movement of the coolant are simple in design and can be mounted independently. This type of heating - without a pump that promotes the movement of the coolant, is also called gravity. The movement of the hot coolant to the heating devices and the outflow of the cooled water is carried out without the use of additional mechanisms and human assistance.

The simplest scheme, how to tie a heating boiler, is usually used to heat small suburban buildings. It is not able to cope with the heat supply of buildings of large area. The optimal solution for self-assembly, when the boiler room is piping, is considered to be a scheme with natural water circulation, which includes elements such as a heating boiler, heating radiators and an expansion tank (read also: "").

The advantages of gravity heating include:
  • the simplest installation;
  • functioning regardless of the availability of power supply;
  • small size of the structure;
  • inexpensive service;
  • the ability to repair the system with your own hands (the exception is the boiler);
  • reliable functioning - such a strapping does not contain devices that break at the wrong time.
Among the disadvantages of circuits with natural circulation are:

Not to mention the disadvantages:

  • a complex boiler piping scheme, which includes a lot of elements - control and adjustment, valves, distribution manifolds, devices for removing trapped air;
  • the need for regular expensive maintenance;
  • device balancing is required;
  • heating pump piping required;
  • the high cost of elements and services of professional installers;
  • installation and repair by specialists, which requires significant funding.

The number of system elements can be reduced by using the method of primary-secondary rings. In this case, there will be fewer control and protection devices, but each heating ring will require its own circulation pump. Systems that include several rings and a floor-standing boiler with a power of not more than 50 kW require equipping with collector combs necessary for a uniform supply of coolant to the heaters.

In apartment buildings, heat supply is done using hydraulic equalizers. They are installed in circuits with powerful boilers having a power of more than 50 kW, and providing heat not only for the main circuit, but also, for example, for the “warm floor” system. Hydraulic equalization devices contribute to the uniform distribution of heat throughout the batteries, and pressure drops are not allowed in different rings.

Which binding scheme do you prefer?

Which version of the heating system device to choose is decided by the owner of the property, but at the same time he must take into account the purpose of the circuit that is planned to be installed:
  • the simplest scheme, when do-it-yourself piping of a wall-mounted single-circuit boiler (detailed: ""), with a gravity system is ideal for a small suburban building (detailed: "");
  • complex boiler piping schemes with many functional devices are needed to provide heating in houses with warm water floors and decentralized hot water supply.

Owners of private houses will need knowledge regarding the construction of the network in order to timely detect malfunctions in the heating system.
