How to make a desk with your own hands. Super easy: just 3 steps!

Have you ever made anything from wood in your life? It means that you can make our desk just right! I can't believe it, but you will make this stylish fashionable piece of furniture with your own hands in 1 day. Designers will be jealous!

In order to make a table made of wood with your own hands, you will need:

plywood sheet 1.5-2 cm thick;
legs for the table: model "leg-hairpin" or other;
clamps;
drill, self-tapping screws for wood;
glue for wood;
your choice of wood product: oil, varnish or glaze.

Making a plywood desk in 3 steps

Order the cutting of plywood directly from the store where you buy it. For the model shown in the photo, you will need:
- 2 sheets of 60 × 120 cm for the top and bottom of the table top,
- 4 strips 60 × 8 cm for the sides of the compartments.

But, of course, the size of the table can be any, it is important that the length of the strips corresponds to the width of the table top. And if you don't want to bother at all, get by with one piece, which will become the tabletop (then take thicker plywood). Let there, in the shop at the store, process all the edges.

Place one of the larger pieces on the floor and drill holes for the legs. Screw in the self-tapping screws. It is better to fasten the legs not along the very edge, but slightly stepping back. Although as you like.

Try on how you want to arrange the sides of the table compartments to make open drawers. Make marks with a pencil, then coat with glue and secure to the bottom of the tabletop. Apply glue to the top edges of the sides and cover with a top countertop. Clamp everything with clamps, be sure to put unnecessary plywood scraps.

Ready!

The table looks like a fashionable photo of a designer interior! But if you really want to, you can go further. For example, cut and glue the inner box out of thinner plywood. Or cut a round hole for a flower pot.

But it is very worthwhile to paint or otherwise process the wood of the table - let it last a long time!

The ideal option for processing the wood of such a table is wood wax oil. The surface will retain its as if untouched, natural appearance, but it will become smoother and receive reliable protection. If you want the surface of the table to be resistant to moisture - saturate the surface with "oil for wood in contact with food" before the first oil application. Both of these products are in the Belinka line.
If you want to change the color of the countertop, you can cover it with Belinka Interier glaze, or you can tint the interior furniture varnish with universal pigments and cover the table only with it.
The question of whether a wooden table needs to be primed before glazing or varnishing depends on whether you need moisture protection. If the furniture is used only in the room, and this is not a kitchen table, then the priming step can be dispensed with.
