Instructions on how to assemble a computer desk

Go to the hardware store or market and purchase the following
materials:

  • furniture board (18 × 600 × 2000 mm and 18 × 400 × 2000 mm, 3 pieces each, as well as 2 pieces 18 × 200 × 2000 mm);
  • about 6 meters of board 12 × 120 mm;
  • plywood sheet 6 × 1525 × 1525 mm;
  • drawer guides 50 cm (3 pairs);
  • guides for a shelf with a keyboard 40 cm (1 pair);
  • dowels and screws;
  • handles for drawers;
  • sandpaper of various grain sizes;
  • wood varnish.

From the tools you will need a hacksaw, a drill and drills, screwdrivers or a screwdriver, a square and a chisel, a tape measure, a ruler, a pencil.

You can find table drawings on the Web or make individual ones (whether it be a straight or corner table). In accordance with them, we cut out the necessary details, including the vertical walls of the table, the tabletop itself, the components of the cabinets and drawers. At the bottom of the vertical legs on the side facing the wall, cut a piece to fit the baseboard so that the table can later be leaned against the wall.

And in the end, we take up the hinged structure. Saw out the side and horizontal shelves, round the top front edges. To attach to the countertop, make several holes in the walls, using self-tapping screws, fix all the elements together.

Don't overlook additional details.

Cabinet, hanging shelves, drawers - all these are integral components computer desk, including self-assembly. This element of the interior cannot be considered complete and complete if, with the exception of the monitor, keyboard and the processor itself, nothing else will fit on it.

A cabinet, hanging shelves, drawers for a computer desk also need to be built independently. For this:

  • for stability, we cut the upper shelf and the transverse bar from a furniture board 400 mm wide, and the middle wall from a board 200 mm wide;
  • we attach the central wall to the countertop, behind it the rear transverse bar is screwed;
  • put the top shelf on the central wall, check the level;
  • the shelf on the sides is screwed with self-tapping screws;
  • the general structure is attached to the middle wall;
  • the shelf above the pedestal is sawn out of a shield 200 mm wide and fixed at a height convenient for installing a printer, for example;
  • drawers for cabinets are cut from a board 12 × 120 mm and plywood (used for the bottom);
  • drawer guides are attached from the bottom to the top; the distance between them should be the same, and the guides themselves should be parallel;
  • then attach the rails for the shelf where the keyboard will be installed.

When the table is a one-piece structure and you have made sure that you like it that way, disassemble it! Do not be surprised. The reason is that all the wooden parts will now need to be sanded and varnished. And so that the reassembly of the computer desk is quick, mark which part was attached where.
