Vintage items are furniture and interior items that are over 20 years old. But most of all, the interior in vintage style loves things of the 20-30s of the XX century, then materials such as plastic and synthetics were not yet common.

Vintage style in the interior is emphasized antiquity and unique things.

Advice: do not use modern finishing materials and structures (laminate, linoleum, stretch ceilings) to create a vintage room, they can spoil the beauty of such an interior; the use of modern materials is allowed, provided that they are artificially aged.

The following features of vintage style are distinguished:

color palette - delicate pastel shades, floral prints;

Wallpaper

Color is the basis of any interior. Vintage gravitates towards pastel colors, but there are interiors of rich color, which is achieved through the use of a special type of wallpaper.

Vintage-style wallpapers are characterized by patterned ornaments (flowers, intertwining branches). The vintage wallpaper looks like it has faded a bit from time to time. There are three types of wall coverings:

wallpapers with a contrasting art nouveau pattern are used in addition to them;

wallpaper with bright Japanese motifs, such material has a rich color background, and it depicts birds or flowers;
wallpaper with a small or large discreet pattern, designed in pastel colors.

Vintage ceilings are painted, whitewashed or wallpapered. Cracks and light irregularities on the surface give a special charm to the interior. Stucco is often used in vintage style.

Floor

Parquet is used as flooring in living rooms or a simple plank floor is left.

The bathroom or kitchen can be decorated with antique-style floor tiles.

Vintage room furniture

All furniture should be made of natural materials (wood, wrought iron, copper, brass) combined with unusual fabrics. These should be items "with history". Small scratches, chips, scuffs will only add zest to the vintage interior.

Vintage is light and airy. He does not like dark and bright colors. The color scheme is ashen, pearl, lavender, beige tones, the colors of young greens or ashy roses, as well as their shades.

Decorate the walls with pink wallpaper, and use materials in the color of young grass, sky blue or ash rose as upholstery for furniture or cabinet fronts; such a spring interior will fill the room with fresh energy.

Vintage textile

All vintage style textiles should be made of natural materials (cotton, silk, chintz, calico, linen) in pleasant pastel shades.

Vintage is a romantic, warm and cozy style. The room does not have to be completely vintage, you can simply place individual accents. But vintage style is not combined with high-tech, minimalism and oriental styles.
