How to prepare a recipe for lean pancakes in water without yeast - a complete description of the preparation so that the dish turns out very tasty and original.

Pancakes on water - housewives can still agree with this, but on water and without eggs - this will seem culinary nonsense to many. After all, there must be a product that will bind and combine the dough ingredients with each other.

But it turns out that in addition to eggs, other products can also cope with this role: vegetable oils (olive, sunflower) and even bananas.

What are the benefits of lean pancakes?

How did Lenten baked goods earn their love even from those housewives whose families do not observe fasting? There are several reasons for this, and they are quite significant:

  1. Allergies to lactose and gluten force people to adhere to a strict diet and exclude most delicious foods from their diet, including pancakes made with milk (or other dairy products) and eggs. But lean pancakes on water do not include allergenic products and are not inferior in taste to their counterparts;
  2. Low calorie content. In an effort to lose weight, it is not difficult to fall into despondency and depression due to a total restriction in high-calorie (but so tasty) food, which will result in night gluttony and new weight gain. You can lose weight deliciously by preparing low-calorie, tasty (including flour) dishes. Lenten pancakes are a prime example of this;
  3. Economical. This baking is like a recipe for “porridge from an axe”, when there was nothing in the kitchen except flour, water and vegetable oil, which cost several times less than the ingredients of classic pancakes.

Fluffy milk pancakes without yeast recipe

Pancakes are the oldest culinary product of Russian cuisine. Lenten pancakes, unlike others, do not contain ingredients of animal origin in the recipe. In other words, the technological map does not contain eggs, milk, butter and similar products. The word “pancake” is a corruption of the word “melin”, which comes from the word “grind” and means that the product will be prepared from a ground product.

To create such a culinary masterpiece as Lenten pancakes, you don’t need any special skills, a lot of time or an exquisite assortment of products. Recipes typically contain water, flour, salt, sugar, baking powder or yeast. Such an economical flour dish requires a dough of liquid consistency, which easily spreads on a hot frying pan and is quickly fried on both sides.

Russian Lenten pancakes are loose, spongy, soft products with many pores. Baking powder in the preparation of recipe cards has been used not so long ago in Russian cuisine, and such an additive was borrowed from the West. Lenten pancakes have a lot of recipes, which are prepared differently.

Pancake dough is often made 6 hours before baking so that the gluten in the flour can swell and the consistency acquires a delicate, homogeneous, velvety appearance. The sponge cooking method is one of the most common. By the time of baking, this dough resembles thick sour cream.

In terms of thickness, lean pancakes can be either thin or thick. Often such products are stuffed with various fillings. For this, it is better to use thin products, because they will not break when folded. Apples, raisins, jam, caviar and other products of personal preference are placed inside.

When preparing dough for lean pancakes, there are some nuances that should be followed. For example, flour is always sifted, because then it can be enriched with oxygen. Yeast that is dissolved in warm water should not be in excess. Otherwise, the dough will smell “fermented.”

When adding flour, the dough should be thoroughly rubbed. It is better to do this with a mixer. Also, some recipes require scalding the dough; you should not be lazy and avoid this process, because the quality of the dough and, ultimately, the quality of the prepared products will depend on this. It is best to follow all recommendations and strictly adhere to the ratio of ingredients.

Little tricks for delicious lean pancakes

It often happens that when inexperienced housewives first try to cook Lenten pancakes, they are disappointed: instead of ruddy golden pastries, they see something whitish on their plates. But it is so important that the result of culinary work is not only tasty, but also pleasing to the eye!

In the case of pancakes, this incident is easily explained: the absence of milk and eggs in the composition makes it difficult to form a crispy crust. To avoid this, try experimenting with “natural” ingredients that add an appetizing color to the finished dish.

  • If you add a teaspoon of powdered turmeric to the dough, the product will acquire a pleasant “sunny” shade.
  • In general, depending on your culinary preferences, you can add cinnamon, herbs and various spices to the dough. All this will only add piquancy to the finished product and enhance the aroma!
  • When kneading the dough, some chefs replace 1/3 of the water specified in the recipe with fruit juice: this not only enhances the taste of the dish, but also helps give it a certain shade. Of course, this should only be done when you are going to serve baked goods with a sweet filling or in tandem with a sauce containing sugar.
