Valyaev A. L. So I would like to look a little deeper when talking about the revival of this tradition. Since everything new is well-forgotten old, I would like to look a little into the past. It seems to me that everything is going back to the era of Taurus. We are the heirs of the Avestan astrological tradition, which Pal Palych brought to us through his direct genetic kinship with the bearers of this teaching from Iran. The Avestan astrological tradition was transmitted by the Median magicians, who received their information from a much older civilization. Everyone knows that Median astrology formed the basis of Zoroastrian astrology. Median astrology emerged from Sumerian astrology, which, through the Babylonian-Assyrian culture, transmitted to the civilization of Iran knowledge about the stars, knowledge about the Cosmos, knowledge about time, the cult of the god Time, and accordingly, everything connected with this - ideas about the cosmic origin of man, about his connections with celestial bodies. And therefore I would like to turn a little to the time when astrology arose.
The Sumerians themselves, according to Pal Palych and many other prominent researchers, despite the fact that they lived in the Asia Minor region, on the territory of modern Iraq. According to their morphological type, they belonged to the Indo-European race. And, as Pal Palych and many other researchers suggest, they are carriers of some more ancient culture that came to this region from the north. Because in one Mesopotamia a culture arose instantly. They immediately had an idea of time, they had the first school, the first writing, the first mathematics, the first division of the circle into 360°, the first astrology, the division into 12 signs of the Zodiac. And the Zodiac that we know now became known to us from the Zodiac of the ancient Sumerians.
It can hardly be assumed that the entire science on which modern knowledge is based could arise at once, during a short period of time during which, in principle, the Sumerian civilization developed. Therefore, Pal Palych and other researchers are probably right, who agree with the opinion that the Sumerians were simply carriers of knowledge that did not belong to them. The Sumerians came from the “twilight”, from the land of the north, the land of cold, polar night. Where this civilization came from, in principle, is unknown, but according to the myths about Gilgamesh, about the great flood, according to some other myths, through Babylon, which territorially became the heir of the Sumerian civilization, we know that they worshiped time, they worshiped cosmic luminaries and found a connection between the earthly world and the heavenly world.
In my speech today, I will try to connect the North Scandinavian, Nordic runic tradition with the Sumerian zodiac circle, which, in principle, formed the basis of all subsequent zodiac circles and which is now continued by the Avestan, not Western, astrological tradition.
In front of you now is a runic row divided into three ettas.
Each rune separately requires a separate description and it is difficult to dwell on each rune separately. The point is simply that the Scandinavians, again, approached their sacred tradition very reverently. They are the heirs of the Aesir, gods who can probably be associated with the Indo-European asuras or ahuras. The Aesir gave people the knowledge of runes, which they themselves received from the deities of another row of the Scandinavian pantheon - these are the so-called Vanir. Pal Palych and many other researchers believe that the etymology of the word "Van" comes from an Indo-European root, which is preserved in the names of many Slavic names - in particular the Slavs - "Slovans", "Veneta", "Vandals". They were the bearers of a civilization about which little is known now. However, there are studies that on the territory of our Slavic ethnos the most ancient evidence has been preserved that people owned runic writing - namely runic. It is like a secret writing system, a system for transmitting certain symbols and mythological, cosmological concepts encoded in this circle. Each rune not only corresponds to one or another letter of this language, it carries certain concepts, it carries a certain energy and it carries a certain dynamics. Each rune expresses a certain cosmological idea, which is very well interconnected with the zodiac circle.
We do not know whether the Scandinavians knew astrology, but if we draw a parallel between the runic circle and the zodiac circle, then we will see absolutely that this relationship exists. Despite the fact that, it would seem, Sumeria is the 3rd - 4th millennium BC, and Scandinavia is the first millennium BC, these traditions are connected by some kind of internal knowledge. Obviously, both of them were simply a continuation of the Hyperborean single tradition, which formed the basis of the entire Indo-European culture, of which we are currently the carriers.
The runic series consists of three ettas, which symbolize the three stages of the development of the universe:
1. deities and creative forces
2. forces opposing the deities - forces of destruction and chaos
3. evolution of the human cycle.
In the next picture you see the runic circle without its overlay on the zodiac circle.
There are 24 runes that correspond to the 12 constellations of the Lower and 12 constellations of the Upper Zodiac. At the same time it is 24 hours of the day. Many other parallels can be drawn here.
Modern scientists attribute the emergence of runic writing to the 5th - 6th centuries BC. It seems to me that the runic circle arose much earlier.
Let's project two runes onto the sign of Aries: Fehu and Uruz. Fehu means "cow" and Uruz means "bull". That is, the first two runes are associated with the male and female hypostases of a certain animal, which gave birth to the rest of the diversity of humanity. This is an analogue of the Avestan Geush-urvan - Soul of the Bull.
The following picture shows the usual zodiac circle that you are familiar with.
The only difference is that it is offset by 30°. It is shifted only in order to place the central axis at the forefront, which divides the entire zodiacal circle into the day and night abodes of the planets. In this case, the two signs that are ruled by the luminaries, the Sun and the Moon, are at the root of this circle. They are his center of gravity.
Please note that further all the planets that control the zodiac signs are located according to the degree of distance from the Sun: Virgo and Gemini are ruled by Mercury, Taurus and Libra are ruled by Venus, the next planet from the Sun is Mars, rules Aries and Scorpio, Pisces and Sagittarius are ruled by Jupiter, Aquarius and Capricorn by Saturn. This applies to the septenary planets. If we depict the higher planets, we will see that the reverse movement begins, this loop collapses, starting with Uranus, through Neptune and Pluto, and it will all reach the same point from which it all began. That is, I want to say that the combination of the signs of Leo and Cancer is a cosmic marriage of the Sun and the Moon. Everything else is born through it, everything flows from it. And, accordingly, the beginning of the zodiac circle and the beginning of the natural season, in this case - the beginning of spring, will be the zodiac sign of Taurus. Which suggests that at that moment in time when zodiacal astrology arose, the time of Sumeria, the point of precession, the point of the vernal equinox was in the sign of Taurus.
The following figure shows the overlay of the runic circle on the zodiac.
The beginning of the runic circle here is taken to be the beginning of the runic Futhark: the runes Fehu and Uruz.
I want to quickly go through all the runes and prove that they should correspond to the zodiac circle in this order.
If we start with the zodiac sign Taurus, then the first runes are Fehu And Uruz. One means a cow, the other means a bull, symbolizing energy, power, life force from which everything is born. These runes are very powerfully used for healing, to awaken vital forces.
The following runes are Turisaz And Ansuz. One of them leads to the goal, the other symbolizes sound, symbolizes knowledge, movement, symbolizes an impulse aimed at communication. This is the transfer of knowledge, this is apprenticeship. Corresponds to the zodiac sign Gemini.
Next come two runes corresponding to the zodiac sign Cancer: Raido And Kenaz. The first of them symbolizes constant movement, this rune transfers a person from one state to another, the rune of constant transformation. The next rune, similar in outline to the Moon, is associated with a person’s journey into the realm of the unconscious. It is translated as "torch", and the torch was a constant symbol of the Moon in ancient times and it symbolized the light in the darkness, the light in the night, the light that leads man to his further spiritual awakening.
The next two runes perfectly correspond to the sign of Leo, because one of them, Gebo, means gifts, it symbolizes joy, friendliness, mutual exchange of gifts, reconciliation of people, that is, a celebration of life. Next rune Vunyo- rune of happiness, good luck and prosperity. That is, the most joyful, most pleasant zodiac sign and the most favorable month of the year, corresponding to the sign of Leo. It contains the same lucky runes from Futhark.
In the sign of Virgo the first rune Hagalaz- this is "hail". The next rune is Nautiz- means "need". Both of them symbolize duty, service, submission, working off some heavy karma. That is, they both perfectly correspond to the sign of Virgo.
Next come the runes Isa, "ice", and Era, which means "harvest" and "year". Here we get to the most interesting Rune Isa symbolizes the passage of time, it is associated with freezing, with the moment of the present. In principle, the holiday of the autumn equinox and harvest is directly related to Libra. The Er rune can even be externally somehow associated with the astrological sign of Libra itself.

Next we move on to top of the zodiac circle. And here a very interesting rune relates to Scorpio Eyvaz, which means “ash”, the world tree, dividing the entire space of the world into three parts: the lower world of the frost giants, the upper world of the gods and the middle part - the world of the earth. The rune means the world tree, it is directed both up and down, so it should divide the entire runic circle into two parts, which, in fact, is what happens. Next rune Perto, more than any other, can be associated with the sign of Scorpio, because it symbolizes at the same time the birthing womb, and the unknown, and darkness, and the fear of death, and contact with something unknown.

Then we get closer to the sign of Capricorn and here is a very interesting rune Teyvaz. If the Algiz rune at the beginning of Sagittarius symbolizes protection, it was applied to the shield, then the Teyvaz rune, which is like an arrow pointing upward, was applied to the sword and spear. This is the rune of attack, this is the rune of achieving the goal. This is, in principle, what the sign of Capricorn symbolizes. This is the rune of military leaders, this is the rune of people who achieve their goals.
Accordingly, the next rune is the rune Berkana, which, it would seem, came here very strangely, because it symbolizes a birch, such a small, modest tree. This rune is associated with childbirth, with the protection of women. But, on the other hand, in the Avestan tradition, Mount Kharaberezaiti symbolized the highest part of the world around which the planets revolve. In all Indo-European languages, “birch”, “berezaiti”, and “berkana” mean “highest point”. That is, it is a symbol of height and a symbol of upward striving. At the same time, the Berkana rune is the female hypostasis of the male rune, which is located at the beginning of Scorpio - the world Ash rune. This is the second hypostasis of the world tree, only female. And that's why she's at the top.
It is also associated with childbirth. If we remember, then the symbol of the goat Amalthea, which was taken to heaven by Zeus because she raised and fed him when he was hidden in a cave from his father Chronos, who devoured all his children, refers to Capricorn. That is, the feeding goat Amalthea, protecting the woman in labor. Obviously, this is a symbol of the connection with the Moon, which is in exile in Capricorn - on the one hand, suppressed, and on the other hand, when it comes down to it, it is the true ruler of this sign.
The next zodiac sign is the sign of Aquarius. It is represented by two very interesting runes. One of them Evaz, means "animal", another Mannaz, means "person". The first rune is associated with all totemic animals, with the animal manifestation in man. It is associated with sexuality. This is such a priapic rune and it is also unclear why it is at the top point of the runic circle. The animal part of man and at the same time his sexual component.
The next rune Mannaz is called “man”. And it becomes clear why these two runes are in Aquarius - human and animal nature, living and dead water, Dionysus and Apollo, which are represented in Greek mythology. Apollo is a symbol of consciousness, Dionysus is a symbol of emotions, a symbol of unbridled fun. These are the two parts that make up human nature, and they are reflected here, because both of them, apart from each other, are inferior. A person cannot be restrained by conscious blocks alone if he does not have an emotional attachment to some phenomenon or object.
The following runes are Laguz And Ingu. Laguz means "water", a cauldron of water, a symbol of the unconscious. The second rune, which is even somewhat similar to the zodiac sign Pisces, is a symbol of fertility. In principle, Pisces in the Christian tradition has always been a symbol of fertility. This rune, which simultaneously resembles an intertwined DNA molecule, is a symbol of genetic information, a symbol of the transmission of information in the family, and a symbol of karma. That is, this, in fact, is what ideally corresponds to the zodiac sign of Pisces.
Next, this rune flows into the rune Otila, which also means hereditary information, but at the material level. Among the Scandinavians, this rune symbolized the ancestral plot of land. She falls into the sign of Aries, which is associated with Fravashi, with the ancestors. That is, this is the legacy of the ancestors, but already in the form of land, in the form of the Motherland, and therefore the sign of Aries is directly connected with patriotism, connected with the protection of the native land, and connected with the cult of the blood of ancestors. This rune carries powerful information associated with ancestors and family.
The last rune Dagaz, means "day". At the same time, this rune means both day and night. This rune is the beginning of the day before the end of the night. This is the rune of the last day. By design, this is an hourglass turned on its side - a symbol of time, a symbol of a time loop, a symbol of a snake biting its own tail, and at the same time symbolizing infinity and the beginning of a new cycle. This is a symbol of the last day, the last battle in which all humanity will enter and its history will end in order to begin anew.
The runic tradition in its deepest component is connected with the astrological one, regardless of the fact that we do not have clear historical evidence that the Scandinavians used zodiac astrology. Moreover, this indicates that both the runic and zodiac traditions arose at a time when the axis of precession, the point of the vernal equinox, was in the sign of Taurus, the point of the summer solstice, the highest hypostasis of the Sun, was in the sign of Leo, not Cancer. , as at the moment.

But I would like to add that there is another cut. 24 runes still fit into the double Zodiac. And here you can see this very clearly, but it is not completed. And further. After all, this is the light and shadow of the Zodiac, this is the light and shadow side, these are like dyads that show the light and dark side, like its male and female essence. Classic Futhark is very mathematical, because... the number of runes in the senior runes is exactly 24 pieces. The number 24 is perfectly divisible into even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8), as well as into 3 (24 = 8 x 3) and even into five, if you take into account the empty VIRD rune (5 x 5 = 25). It may well be that the ancient peoples who used runes as an alphabet also used these signs as numbers. Unfortunately, these are just guesses, of which there are countless.But something remained in people's memory. Since ancient times, the Futhark was divided into three groups of runes, these groups were called ATTY (“att” is translated as “clan” or “family”). In Iceland, at the end of the first millennium NE, the three ATTAs of the classical Futhark were named according to the rune that begins the ATT. 1 ATT FREYA, 2 ATT HAGALA, 3 ATT TYUR (the younger Scandinavian runes were also divided into three ATTAs, the first of which had six runes, and the second and third each had five).
Each ATT of the classic futhark consists of 8 runes, respectively, three times eight. Thanks to this formula, runic shamans, skalds and erils composed runic spells; they never “mixed the holy with the sinful,” and often corrected the mistakes of laymen who tried to master runic magic without an experienced mentor. So do not try to experiment and make runic talismans and spells yourself; it is better to turn to the relevant reliable literature.
Classical astrology divides the zodiac signs into four elements. Aries, Leo, Sagittarius – FIRE; Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn - EARTH; Gemini, Libra, Aquarius – AIR; Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces - WATER. And again we get three groups of zodiac signs. Consequently, the connection of runes with astrology is obvious and the division of futhark into three ATTAs is very logical. Moreover, trinity can be traced in philosophy, and in tosophy, and even in our physical world, which is also trinitarian (meaning our three-dimensional space).
Shamans of different nations (including the Scandinavians) treated earthly existence as a temporary stay in the Middle World. Shamans tried, through various practices, to penetrate into the Upper World (superconscious world) and into the Lower World of the subconscious. The three ATTAMs include these three worlds: ATT FREYA - Upper World (the world of gods and celestials), ATT HAGAL - Middle World (earthly reality) and ATT TYRA - Lower World (world of fears and ghosts). There is another concept of futhark perception that can be applied in astrology: the zodiac signs of the first ATTA (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer) are the signs of birth, youth and growth; the signs of the second ATTA (Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio) represent maturity and maturation; signs of the third ATTA (Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) – old age, decline and death.
Scandinavian shamans and erils (rune masters) used ATTAs in the composition of runic spells, which used groups of three runes:
1 – victory runes (sig runor); 2 – beer runes (ol runor); 3 – magic runes (thurs runor); 4 – midwife runes (biarg runor); 5 – surf runes (brun runor); 6 – healing runes (lim runor); 7 – runes of speech (mal runor); 8 – runes of thought (hug runor). These eight runic groups personify certain qualities inherent in individuals born at different times of the year, who are connected by certain common goals, aspirations and, oddly enough, professional predispositions.
Let's take a closer look at all 8 runic groups in order to more fully understand the impact of ancestral runes on various individuals.
1 – RUNES OF VICTORY: FEU; HAGAL; SHOOTING SHOOT – open ATTS. People under the influence of these runes are assertive and purposeful. They have powerful potential for various endeavors and achievements. They struggle with an unfavorable environment and strive to achieve their goals by any means necessary. These people are warriors and winners, at their core. It is no wonder that representatives of the fiery zodiac signs (the first half of Aries; the first half of Leo; the first half of Sagittarius) fall under the influence of victory runes. Fire is an unpredictable element, consuming everything except water.
2 – BEER RUNES: UR; NAUD; BJARK - used in spells against harmful spells and physical injuries. To be honest, “beer” doesn’t correspond much to what this runic group actually carries. If the runes of victory are purely “male”, then the runes of beer are “female” runes. UR is the rune of vitality, NAUD is the rune of obstacles and sacrifices, and BJARK is the rune of motherhood. So people under the influence of the beer runes (the second half of Aries; the second half of Leo; the second half of Sagittarius) personify vitality, bearing something new and maternal care.
3 – RUNES OF MAGIC: THURS; ISS; EOH – associated with sorcery and the kingdom of trolls. People under the influence of these runes (first half of Taurus; first half of Virgo; first half of Capricorn) are excellent materializers of ideas. They have the will, patience and zeal to bring formless ideas to their logical conclusion. At the same time, TURS develops determination, ISS enhances resilience, and EOH activates partnership qualities. All people born under the influence of this group of runes are predisposed to magic, philosophy and religious views.
4 – MIDWIFE RUNES: ACC; YER; MAN - used in spells to support new beginnings (for example, during the birth of a new person). People under the influence of this group of runes (the second half of Taurus; the second half of Virgo; the second half of Capricorn) also support any endeavors and help others in word and deed. As a rule, they master any profession, be it carpentry or the art of cinematography. These people find it difficult to get along in the role of a leader, because... leadership positions and ranks corrupt their lives.
5 – SURF RUNES: RAID; EIVAZ; LAGU - used in shipbuilding. Movement is what unites this group of runes. RAID - purposeful movement, EIVAZ - complementary movement (circulation), LAGU - unpredictable turns in forward movement. People under the influence of the surf runes (first half of Gemini; first half of Libra; first half of Aquarius) must be in constant motion, the more they travel and move, the more they gain for themselves. They should not relax or stand still, but develop new ways of development.
6 – HEALING RUNES: KEN; PERTH; ING - used by Northern European shamans for healing and cleansing rituals. The dominant rune of this group, KEN, is the sign of fire; the ING rune is graphically similar to two crossed KEN runes. People born under the influence of healing runes (the second half of Gemini; the second half of Libra; the second half of Aquarius) are healers by nature, but if they do not help others, but focus only on their own “I”, then ailments immediately come to them and diseases. These people should not be selfish, but always listen to the requests of others, help them and correct the mistakes of others. The form of healing can be different: you can care for a sick person, or you can share your energy, your ideas in order to correct collective shortcomings.
7 – RUNES OF SPEECH: GIFU; OLGIZ; ODAL - used in those areas of life where the word is of great importance (for example: oratory, advocacy, etc.). These runes were usually carved on walls or on various objects where important public issues were decided. People born under the influence of this group (first half of Cancer; first half of Scorpio; first half of Pisces) have a natural gift of oratory, you just need to discover it for yourself. These people perfectly realize their potential in acting, political, judicial and social activities. These people make talented artists, clergy and politicians.
8 – RUNES OF THOUGHT: VINYA; SOL; DAGAZ - used in ancient times for mental concentration. This group is associated with mental processes, so in a negative manifestation the energy of these runes can manifest itself in the form of madness. People born under the influence of the runes of speech (the second half of Cancer; the second half of Scorpio; the second half of Pisces) are born philosophers and discoverers; they are able to focus their thoughts on some subject and make unexpected discoveries. Since the runes of thought complete the ATT (eight runes), they endow the individual with a fullness of sensations (some receive positive vibrations in the form of achieving success, while others perceive negativity in the form of failures and mental stress).
These eight runic groups can say a lot. For example, about an individual’s predisposition to a certain type of occupation, about behavior, about characteristic features, etc.
The runes of victory (FE, HAGAL, TIR) enhance fighting qualities, so people born under the influence of this group perfectly realize their potential in political and propaganda activities; they are selfish and purposeful. People who fall under the influence of the beer runes (UR, NAUD, BJARK) are passive and changeable in their views, but they are always full of vitality, the best use of their qualities is in mediation. Magic runes (TURS, ISS, EOH) push individuals under their influence to search for something unknown; they are born mystics and utopians, so the best use of their qualities is magic and religion. Midwife runes (ASS, YER, MAN) enhance abilities in construction, design, they instill a love of nature and agriculture. The surf runes (RAID, EIVAZ, LAGU) force individuals to be in constant motion, therefore the professions of such people are very specific: sailors, pilots, drivers, machinists, etc.
For people under the influence of healing runes (KEN, PERTH, ING), it is best to connect their life path with medical or teaching professions. In medicine or pedagogy, they will feel in their place. Although medicine and teaching are not obvious, I would even say mental. That is why people, showing their creative abilities, are teachers and healers for others (remember, for example, the beneficial influence of A.S. Pushkin’s lyrics on the individual subconscious, and Pushkin was born under the KEN rune).
As already written above, the runes of speech (GIFU, OLGIZ, ODAL) are favorable for speakers, politicians, artists and public workers, and the runes of thought (VINYA, SOL, DAGAZ) are good for philosophers and scientists.
