Okay google where am I. How to download and install OK Google voice search on PC or laptop. Restarting the Google App

A modern smartphone is absolutely indispensable as a “city guide” – once you are in another city, you can easily and quickly find out where you can eat nearby, where the nearest ATM is located, what sights you should pay attention to… and even in your hometown it will not stay idle - will readily suggest the best route to the farthest corner of the map - both by public transport and for your personal car. The emergence of high-speed mobile Internet and a further increase in data transfer speed only expands the possibilities of navigation in the city.

UNIVERSAL CARDS

Google Maps

Google Maps can display a map as a simple chart, a simulated terrain chart, and a satellite map. On top of the map, you can display the current state of traffic jams, the main routes of public transport and bicycle paths (in Kyiv, the latter, unfortunately, does not function). The service can remember your home and work addresses, as well as the places you have visited (with reference to the date). A useful feature is the ability to download sections of the map for offline use, and with the ability not only to search, but also to plot routes.

By the way, about the search. It works not only for a specific address, but also for points of interest (POI) - the names of restaurants, shops, etc., and as a result, the user receives not only a point on the map, but also a card of the institution - with a link to the website, the exact address, opening hours, visitor reviews and other information. In addition, you can simply write “restaurant” in the search and, with geolocation enabled, get a list of nearby establishments of interest to you, indicating the distance to each of them. Further, Google Maps immediately suggests how long the road will take you and offers to get directions from your current location. Routes can be of three options - for a private car, for walking and traveling by public transport, and for all the user can specify personal preferences (for example, for a car - avoid expressways and toll roads). Public transport, which was previously supported rather conditionally in Kyiv, is now implemented almost perfectly - Google Maps immediately offers several options (giving preference to the fastest), indicating the total fare, travel time at the current time of day and the frequency of trains / buses / minibuses . Plus, in the settings, you can choose your preferred mode of transport, as well as the “minimum number of transfers” and “least pedestrian crossing” modes. Google Maps also offers navigation (still in beta testing mode) for walking routes and car trips - with turn-by-turn tips, voice recommendations, etc., plus another Google service works closely with maps - Street View, which allows you to view spherical photo panoramas of the point you are interested in on the map.

In general, Google Maps for Ukraine turns out to be a very convenient and informative guide, but in some cases it may have inaccuracies (like a missing house number) and various small “roughnesses” - for example, recently when building a route in Kyiv using several branches subway Google Maps began to offer to get off at the transfer station and walk to the next branch.

Yandex maps

The main competitor of Google Maps in our area, which periodically turns out to be more accurate due to better “reference to the terrain”, however, is noticeably inferior in terms of building routes by public transport.

The map here can be presented in the form of a diagram, a satellite map, or a "hybrid" option. There is a display of traffic jams and accidents on the roads (the latter can be added by the users themselves, using a special item right there in the menu). It is possible to download maps for offline use (but not the area selected on the screen, as in Google Maps, but by the names of cities, just over 200 maps are currently available) - recently, Yandex.Maps has received support for vector maps, so that a full map of Kyiv, for example, takes less than 50 MB. The user can add their home and work addresses, as well as maintain "favorites" lists - for example, favorite restaurants, entertainment venues, etc.

Yandex.Maps supports voice search, they can search not only by a specific address, but also by points of interest, and just words like “gas station” or “ATM”, showing the results found near you - with an institution card, phone / website, street panorama and the possibility of laying the route. To facilitate the task, Yandex.Maps offer a list of predefined categories (hotels, bars, car washes, etc.), with the ability to filter the results (for restaurants, for example, you can specify the type of cuisine, select only those that are currently open, offering delivery food at home, etc.). Recently, Yandex.Maps has received support for offline search, not only for a specific address, but also for points of interest.

Yandex.Maps also has a route, but it is implemented much weaker than Google Maps - there is no pedestrian mode at all, and for public transport there are literally a couple of options (or even one at all), without any possibility its settings. If earlier the option “take into account traffic jams” was available (which in Kiev realities meant, in fact, “the predominant mode of transport is the metro”), now it has disappeared somewhere. For a trip by a private car, in most cases, one to three options are also issued, while taking into account the state of traffic on the roads - the user is offered a route option that in the browser version of Yandex.Maps corresponds to the “avoid traffic jams” settings.

A popular navigation application around the world, known to many users of Nokia smartphones, which is now available for Android, where it is also a success with users (more than 5 million installations on Google Play). There is both a schematic map and a satellite map, for 40 countries traffic information is available on the roads, for 1000 cities - an urban traffic diagram. For airports and large shopping malls, there are 3D interior plans (which are also available for some Kiev establishments, such as Caravan and Skymall).

HERE Maps can work without an Internet connection - for this you will need to download offline maps, while both search and navigation will be available (but, of course, you still need online access for traffic information). The cards turn out to be quite "weighty" - for example, only one option is available for Ukraine (the entire country), which pulls almost 2 GB.

You can use the application without registration, however, full functionality (downloading offline maps, creating collections) is available after creating an account in HERE Maps (or authorization in the service using Facebook).

The search works not only by address, but also by various points of interest - the user can either enter a text query or select the category of interest from the list provided. For the found establishments, a card with basic information is available (address, phone number, website, user reviews on TripAdvisor), right there in one click you can get various route options - for traveling by car, public transport or walking. For a personal car, you can enable / disable the use of expressways, tunnels, dirt roads, etc., for public transport and a walking route, no settings are provided. A useful function of the application is to create a link to your home address - this adds an icon to the upper right corner of the map (and at the same time creates a shortcut on the home table), and by clicking on it, the program will automatically route from your current location to home.

MAPS.ME

Navigation app from My.com (Mail.ru subsidiary responsible for the international market). The application is available for Android, iOS and Blackberry, allows you to download maps for offline use (the full map of Ukraine "weighs" a little more than 300 MB).

MAPS.ME is based on the free OpenStreetMap map, which is filled by a community of enthusiasts on the basis of a wiki. Accordingly, the map turns out to be detailed (with ATMs, parking lots, pharmacies and much more - including, for example, the location of enclosures in the zoo or benches in the park), but not complete and not always up-to-date - it may not have establishments that have existed for years, and if there are a new restaurant has settled in a closed store or company, it is likely that such a sign change will not be made on the map. The institution card turns out to be extremely minimalist - in general, it will only contain the name, type (office / restaurant / bank, etc.), exact coordinates, distance from the current location, the ability to plot a route, and (often, but not always) - web -website.

MAPS.ME can be used for navigation, but only for driving or walking - there is no support for public transport in the application (although stops are marked on the map). In addition, the process of building a route, which in other applications turns out to be almost instantaneous, here turns out to be very long (especially walking, which can “puzzle” the program for several minutes). Voice navigation is available (up to two dozen languages are supported, but Ukrainian is not among them), it is possible to import marks on the map via a KML / KMZ file.

NAVIGATORS

Visicom Navigator

A well-known program for navigating around Ukraine, which has become absolutely free since July 2015. However, the change in the distribution model does not seem to have had the best effect on support: since then, the application has not been updated even once; the date of the last update of the map is April 2015. At the same time, however, Visicom offers a really very detailed map, albeit not the most recent one - all settlements (about 30 thousand), more than 170 thousand points of interest.

In our case (LG G3 with Android 6.0), the program took an indecently long time to start - exactly a minute (with an accuracy of fractions of a second), and the card itself noticeably slowed down in 3D mode. The interface is optimized for use in the car - full screen mode, large menu items the size of a quarter of the screen, etc. Unfortunately, there is no voice control.

The main item on the main screen is laying the route - either with a manual selection of the address, or from the history of trips, or by points of interest (hotels, medicine, shops, etc. - almost two dozen categories in total, and each of them has a dozen, or even two, subcategories), or by exact coordinates. At the same time, you can specify the location - the nearest, along the laid route, near its end, or near the user-specified point on the map. Unlike a number of other navigators that plot a route only between two points, Vizicom allows you to use an unlimited number of points, as well as recalculate the route if you deviate from the plotted course. In addition, the application can show some traffic signs, warn about CCTV cameras and approaching a settlement.

NavLux Navigator

Navigation software available for both mobile platforms (Android, iOS, Windows Mobile) and specialized navigators manufactured by Garmin and Kenwood. Only Ukraine is supported, but the map is very detailed (almost 300 thousand points of interest, 95% of the urban population of Ukraine, more than 600 thousand km of the road network). For the application to work, the map must be downloaded, the full version will pull up to 2 GB (two separate versions are available, in Ukrainian and Russian), but there is the possibility of separate downloading, by region.

The route can be laid both to specific addresses and according to the database of points of interest - you can select them from the catalog or see what is near you. Route simulation can be a useful feature - in this mode, the navigator will demonstrate the entire trip (in a somewhat accelerated mode), with all voice prompts, etc.

During the trip, the navigator can display statistics (distance traveled, maximum / minimum speed, etc.), warn about speeding on the current section of the road, when laying navigation, you can set the parameters “avoid dirt roads”, “avoid turns”, “search for fast track." In large cities, NavLux Navigator can help with lane selection when crossing intersections and is able to lay routes taking into account time restrictions.

NavLux Navigator is a shareware application, without purchasing a license it can be used for evaluation purposes for 7 days. Next, you will need to purchase a subscription for a year, which, depending on the platform, will cost around UAH 200-400.

Yandex.Navigator

In addition to maps, Yandex offers several more specialized applications. So, Yandex.Navigator is a full-fledged application for car navigation, with a three-dimensional map, "navigator" tips in different languages, voice search (for some reason, rarely found in other applications of this kind). When building a route, Yandex.Navigator is able to take into account traffic jams (which works better here than in Google Maps) and traffic accidents (which users themselves can report), offering to bypass the problem area. The application can download maps for offline use, but without Internet access, it cannot find the required address or get directions (if you manually enter the desired point on the map or select the address from a saved list).

URBAN TRANSPORT

WikiRoutes

Freely editable guide to urban transport (declared support for 1000 cities from 20 countries, where WikiRoutes knows about more than 30 thousand routes). The project is supported by a community of enthusiasts (in total, there are about 5,000 members among the editors), its main site is located at http://wikiroutes.info/.

WikiRoutes is powered by Google Maps, so the detail and accuracy is the same as Google Maps. To search for an address, Google voice input is used, but for some reason it did not work in our case - the recognition window simply closed after pronouncing the phrase.

The functionality of WikiRoutes is not very high: when building a route, the program, in addition to direct address search, can substitute the current location or a variant from pre-stored addresses, and certain types of transport can be excluded to optimize the route. Unfortunately, there is no regular address search - it only works for building a route, so you will have to save places to Favorites by “poke” into the map. Also, you can’t choose your preferred modes of transport, plus WikiRoutes doesn’t group identical routes using different buses/trolleybuses – so the search result will be oversaturated with the same, in fact, options, differing only in the numbers of minibuses in one or another section. Also, the program clearly lacks filtering or at least sorting by the parameters “least transfers” and “least walking distance” - the result is sorted by only one parameter (travel time), and WikiRoutes seems to offer, in general, all conceivable options, including even frankly wasteful.

In addition, the program contains a directory - a catalog sorted by type of transport (buses / minibuses / trolleybuses, etc.), in which you can see information about any route in your city - fare, final stops, route and interval.

Easy Way public transport

The application works in almost a dozen neighboring countries, in Ukraine it knows more than fifty major cities (for 12 of them it is possible to receive data in real time).

To get started, you are invited to download information about transport in your city - for Kyiv, this is almost half a thousand different routes. EasyWay uses Google maps, allows you to add addresses to Favorites, can show stops near your location (and the user can manually set the search radius in the settings). When plotting a route, the user can use the “with or without transfers” option, turn off unloved modes of transport and select the type of route - optimal (shortest distance), fast or cheap. The list of proposed options immediately indicates the length of the route, travel time and fare.

The program has a separate route guide with detailed information (start / end, stops on the route, fare, distance, interval, hours of operation and even the name of the carrier with its phone number). In this mode, you can see the position of the cars on the route in real time (if they are equipped with GPS, of course) - but for some reason only in this; there is no such information on the general map, or even on the map of the laid route, which looks somewhat strange.

The program is free, at the bottom of the screen on the map of the selected route, an advertising banner is displayed, when building a route, full-screen advertising is displayed.

Yandex.Transport

Another app from Yandex for urban navigation, this time using public transport. However, in reality, its functionality turns out to be almost the same as that of Yandex.Maps, with the exception of real-time display of the location of buses, trolleybuses, trams and fixed-route taxis (provided that they are equipped with GPS, of course - unfortunately , for Kiev minibuses, things are still, to put it mildly, not in the best way). Immediately, we note that along with the absolutely correct display of transport on the route with an error of plus or minus 50 meters, there were situations when a bus passing by you was shown on the map, which in reality was not observed in the line of sight. In addition, you can add the routes you need to your favorites and switch to displaying only the selected transport on the map. The disadvantages of Yandex.Transport are the same - the minimum number of options offered (usually no more than two), the lack of filtering or sorting by travel time / number of transfers, the inability to use clarifying factors such as the preferred mode of transport.

Results

Of the universal applications, we would recommend trying first of all maps from Google and Yandex - they are quite familiar with local realities and offer a convenient search for points of interest, public transport, etc. At the same time, Google Maps compares favorably with a convenient navigation system using public transport and is able to build walking routes. Of the car navigators for Ukrainian roads, we can recommend that you first of all pay attention to the free Yandex.Navigator or Visicom Navigator. If they do not fit, then you should try NavLux Navigator - it offers a very detailed map of Ukraine, but here it is worth considering that the full version of the application is not cheap. If you are going to travel outside of Ukraine, try HERE Maps - its capabilities will most likely be more than enough for you to travel.

The hardworking developers of the Android operating system are constantly introducing a variety of innovations and steadily keeping up with the times. And now, all owners of smartphones and tablets have access to an interesting and convenient voice function "Ok Google, find ...".

All in all, OK Google, search is a new voice search that, with the right commands and without using the on-screen keyboard, is able to find all the information you need. And after some improvements, perform other useful functions on your phone, which makes it very similar to Apple's Siri counterpart.

But first things first. For the function to work correctly, it must be installed and configured. This is not difficult at all, but you need to follow the instructions exactly and complete all the steps to the end.

What does that require

The very name of the function leads to the fact that Google plays an important role here. And it is true. At the very beginning, you need to install the original application from the Play Market Google from Google Inc (Download). It's free and installs quickly and easily. Then we activate it. To do this, you need to enter your account, that is, Google mail (ends with [email protected]) and a password for it.

Very often, when buying a gadget on Android, Google is already installed. You should check the correctness and relevance of the account, as well as update the version of the application. Enter the Play Market, find the desired application in the search, go into it and press the REFRESH button. Without this minor little thing, the whole installation of Ok Google, find ... may not take place.

Another important fact should also be taken into account. This voice search is available on smartphones with the new version of Android. Version 4.4 is indicated on the official Google website, on many sites with useful tips they start from 4.1 and higher. So it's worth a try anyway. To open SETTINGS on your phone, find ABOUT PHONE (usually at the very end of the list). Here will be all the information about the device, including the version.

Correct setting

Now you can proceed directly to setting up voice search on Android.

Open the SETTINGS menu on the phone, find the item ACCOUNTS or ACCOUNTS. We select Google in them, and then we find a line called SEARCH. After clicking on it, a new page will open, which will list the Ok Google settings. In this menu item, select VOICE SEARCH, and in it RECOGNITION OKAY GOOGLE. Now the last setting item will open in front of you, in which you need to check or check the box next to FROM THE GOOGLE APP.

Voice search is actually ready to use, however, you need to go through the voice recognition procedure. It is standard on both Android devices and other operating systems. Sometimes not everyone gets it right the first time. Do not despair, the second or third attempt will definitely be successful.

Photo: Setting up OK Google

Now it's almost all. True, with such standard settings, the voice function Ok Google, find ... will only search the Internet. Also, Google search must be enabled and active. In principle, voice search for various information is already convenient and practical. But you need to know that voice control capabilities can be significantly expanded at the level of the entire phone. In this case, it will be very similar to the analogue of Siri, in no way inferior to her.

There are two ways to do this:

1. In many smartphones, during setup, not only the line “From the Google application” appears, but also “From all applications”. By activating it too, voice search gets access to all phone applications.

Photo: Setting up OK Google

2. If there is no additional line, Google has developed an additional application Google Start (Download). After downloading and activating it, Ok Google, Find will be able to work with all the applications of the device. And you, in turn, only control them with your voice.

Unable to set up

Such an annoying problem is not rare. Basically, the reason for everything is inattention and haste. If the Android version is correct, then you missed one of the important details in the installation.

First check the Google version, it must be up to date. This nuance is as significant as the Android version (it was already explained how to do this earlier).

Then step by step, according to the instructions, check each step of the setup. Perhaps you missed one of them or forgot to tick somewhere. In this case, everything can be fixed by manually adjusting the settings.

If you did not notice any errors, it is worth installing and configuring from the very beginning. This helps a lot. Just be careful this time.
In the vast majority of installation problems, one of these tips always works.

How to use

Now a real personal assistant lives in the phone. Without your unnecessary movements, it will fulfill every request.

To begin with, it is worth testing the basic commands. Say the phrase "Ok Google", a microphone icon should appear in the search bar, click on it. Now say the full query "Ok Google, weather in New York" or "Ok Google, find the exchange rate." A pleasant voice will answer questions and display information on the display of the device for clarity. By the way, in the latest Android smartphones, the voice function is installed by default. That is, you do not need to say the first phrase to activate it first, just voice your question right away.

If you acted competently and wisely by connecting voice control to the entire phone at once, there will be many more examples of its use.

  1. Set an alarm;
  2. Mark events and events in the calendar;
  3. Make a to-do list;
  4. Send messages and make calls (in this case, you must pronounce the contact's name exactly as it is written in the phone book);
  5. Open applications and programs;
  6. Use the search for any queries via the Internet, etc.

Examples of useful commands

With full access, there are an incredible number of command options. You can change the order of words, but pronounce the phrase clearly and understandably in meaning.

Personal organizer. Setting reminders, alarms, information about upcoming meetings, trips, events, tracking your parcels, activating photos and videos. To recognize tasks, Google now must be enabled (for reminders and notifications) and gmail (it receives information about parcels, booking tickets, tables, etc.)

Ok google remind me to call my mom at 3:30
…. where is my parcel?
….set the alarm for 7.00
….when will the meeting with the sister take place?
….what is planned for Monday May 1st?
…..go to Google.com
…..open the app…
.... take a photo / video (you need to open the camera), etc.

Calls and messages. It is possible to make calls, send SMS, listen to voice mail, open the necessary information about contacts, send emails and publish on social networks.

Okay Google, dial Alexander Petrovich or .... call dad / dad
….SMS Favorite: buy milk
…. phone number Igor
....e-mail, to whom Alexander Petrovich, subject Birthday, message text Congratulations on your birthday, exclamation point.

According to a similar algorithm, you can make any other voice commands. The main thing is that they are made through applications from the Play Market, Google mail or Google search engine.

It will be very convenient to search through Google maps and its navigation system. The more sources connected, the more voice searches will be able to perform.
Okay Google, listen to Viktor Tsoi / what is this song? / watch the movie The Silence of the Lambs.
Ok Google, when was Angelina Jolie born?/where is the Statue of Liberty?
….what films are shown at the Svoboda cinema / where is the nearest restaurant?

Experiment with new commands and queries, make your life modern and easy.

Dear readers! If you have any questions or comments on the topic of the article, please leave them below.

Google Corporation began its activity as a search engine, and at the moment the search for information using mobile devices remains one of the main directions of development. With each update of the phone / tablet system, Google Play Services and individual programs, there are more and more new features designed to make life easier for the user.

In this article, I will talk about the most useful voice commands, Now on Tap contextual search, and also show you how to set up your phone to perform any voice commands, including using Tasker. After all, this is what we so dreamed of when reading the works of science fiction in childhood.

Traditionally, all the latest developments from the "corporation of goodness" are implemented on the devices of the Nexus line. So it was with voice control, and with Google Now, a system for presenting information in the form of a set of cards. There is one application behind Google Now, simple Google search and voice search, and that is Google. It is included in the set of standard applications from Google and is available on any certified Android smartphone.

There are also several smartphones with an advanced voice control feature that is activated even when the smartphone's screen is turned off. For example, the MOTO X contains a separate, very low power processor that does nothing but listen in the background to all surrounding sounds for a catchphrase.

Previously, voice control was activated only when clicking on the microphone icon while the search program was open (or on widgets on the desktop). Then came the Google Start launcher, which allowed you to perform voice commands directly from the desktop (using the phrase "Ok, Google"). Since Android 4.4, the same feature has become available in other launchers, but only if the launcher explicitly supports this feature (almost all popular launchers do).

Voice control

A simple search for information is, of course, the most important function of Google Now. Moreover, it is intelligent enough to understand the context, which means that commands can be combined into chains. For example, if you say “OK Google, who is the president of Nicaragua?”, then the search will return the answer “Daniel Ortega”. And if you further ask "How old is he?", then the answer will be "Seventy years old." Google Now understands a lot of commands, here are ten of the most useful ones.

  • Maps and navigation - "let's go/navigation #name street #number Houses". Launches Google Maps in navigator mode at the specified address. You can also specify the city, store, organization, and so on.
  • Calculator - "thirteen percent of five thousand." Will give the answer and the form of the calculator in the search box. Voice can dictate addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, the root of a number. You can also translate measures of weights, lengths and other things.
  • Sending SMS/messages - "Send Oleg text I'm driving, I'll call you later." You can also send messages via WhatsApp, Viber and several other popular instant messengers. According to a simplified scheme, you can dictate "message # program # contact # text". For example: "Whatsapp message Oleg I'm driving." After that, you can also confirm the sending with the “send” command by voice.
  • Dialing a number - "to call Mom". You can also dictate an arbitrary number that is not in the address book. With the command “call sister / brother”, you can specify the number from the contacts (if written differently), then the next time the dialing will be automatic.
  • Reminders and alarms - "wake me up on Saturday at eight in the morning" or "remind me to turn off the stove in ten minutes." You can also add events to the Google calendar. Events can be tied not only to time, but also to place. If you add "remind me to print the text at work", then when geolocation is enabled and the address of the work (places on the map) is specified, a reminder on the phone will pop up automatically. The regular timer built into the Clock app is just as easy to start.
  • Guess the melody - What song is this? Starts recognition of playing music.
  • Music Video - "listen to (music) #group #song". Plays the specified music in Play Music or YouTube clip. It works fine with Russian names, but since it determines English words and performers, sometimes incorrectly interpreting it for Russian, it does not always work.
  • Photo/video - "take a photo / record a video". Launches the camera in the selected mode.
  • Settings management - “turn off the wifi”, “turn on the flashlight”.
  • Notes - "note to self test password for service one two three four". Add a note to Google Keep.

Now on Tap

The description of this service was given special close attention at the presentation of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. And it was presented as one of the main features of the new firmware. But we got more or less normal functionality in Russia only in December. In the official Russian translation it is called context from Now.

How it works?"When you launch a context from Now, Google analyzes everything you see on the screen and looks for information according to this data" - here is the official description from the support page.

In practice, this means that instead of highlighting and copying the phrases of interest on the screen, then opening the search and pasting the phrase, you can simply press and hold the Home button. After that, Google will offer suggestions for the found keywords. It can be pictures, videos, a proposal to open this place on maps, news. May offer to open an organization's website or make a call, open a Facebook profile or see a celebrity's Twitter account, add a note. If there are appropriate applications on the device, after tapping on the icon, the page will open immediately inside the application. When listening to music from different applications, you can call up detailed information about artists, albums, YouTube clips and more with one click.

Just like in the desktop version of the search, there are easter eggs in the voice search. I will give only a few commands, the rest can be found at this link. Unfortunately, almost all of them work only in English and with an English interface or with only English selected in the settings.

Do a barrel roll.
Make me a sandwich!
Sudo make me a sandwich!
"When am I?"
"Beam me up, Scotty!"
"Up up down down left right left right".
What does the fox say?

Tasker

If, after reading everything, you still don’t have enough commands to fulfill your fantasies, then with a little time, you can configure Google Now to execute almost any command. To do this, we first need Tasker and the AutoVoice plugin.

With Tasker, you can perform many actions: launch applications, control sound, run scripts, control the screen, manipulate files, press buttons on the screen, control media, make HTTP Get and Post requests and respond to them, manage advanced phone settings. And all this can be done by giving voice commands. And with the help of many plugins, the functionality expands even more.

To get started, you need to enable the Google Now Integration item inside AutoVoice. In Tasker, you need to create a separate profile for each team or group of teams. As usual, for compiling profiles, I recommend including English in the Tasker settings. For the test profile, let's make a voice command to turn off the sound. To do this, create a new profile with parameters Event → Plugin → AutoVoice Recognized. Fill in the following fields:

  • Command Filter - here we enter the necessary voice command, in our example: "turn off the sound." If you click on the Speak Filter line, then the command can be dictated.
  • Exact Command - if you check the box, it will only work on the exact command, otherwise it can work on every single word or word form.
  • Use Regex - use regular expressions. Allows you to configure the recognition of multiple words in one profile. If you enter "(mute|turn off) (sound|volume)" without quotes in the first field, then the profile will respond to the commands "mute", "mute volume", "mute" and "mute volume".

For action use Audio → Ringer Volume and Audio → Notification Volume. To control the triggering, you can add a pop-up notification via Alert → Flash and in the Text field enter "Turned off".

The “turn off wifi” commands work immediately in Google Now, and “turn off the sound” prompts you to open the settings. And after intercepting the command through Tasker and executing it, it still remains on the current screen with a request. Therefore, we will additionally add to the actions App → Go Home. Well, to amuse your friends, in all profiles for voice control, you can put the first action Alert → Say and enter the phrase "I obey, master." Then the phone will respond to commands with a voice.

With the help of additional plugins, such as AutoRemote , you can control other Android devices. And if you put EventGhost on your computer, then with the help of numerous plugins you can do a lot of interesting things. One of the most useful applications will be setting up a smart home, but that's a separate big story. Joao Dias, the developer of all Auto* plugins, also has an add-on for PC that allows you to integrate mobile device management through the Cortana voice assistant on the desktop.

Some tricks

Tasker is hardcore. You can do amazing things, but for this you need to master a lot of information, understand variables, regular expressions and so on. For those who do not want to mess with Tasker, there are a large number of programs that use voice control capabilities, but have a more understandable and accessible interface and are easy to use. I'll stick with three.

1 Open Mic+ for Google Now

Allows you to change the passphrase from "Ok, Google" to any other. Unfortunately, after one of the service updates and a request from Google, it stopped working with Google Engine, leaving only PocketSphinx. In this regard, only English phrases are suitable for the key phrase, but earlier it was possible to surprise those present by calling the phone “hey, you” or “listen to the command”.

Nevertheless, the developer promises to fix everything in the next updates. Other functions include the launch of recognition by the proximity sensor (two waves of the hand) and by shaking the phone. Like MOTO X, it supports recognition when the screen is off, but, unfortunately, this has a very strong effect on the battery, so it is relevant for a phone on charge or Android car media centers with constant power. Works with a Bluetooth headset, has integration with Tasker, can read text messages.

2 Commander for Google Now

Another program from the developer Open Mic+. Integrates with Google Now and allows you to use an extended set of commands. The supported list includes the following: turn on/off the wireless access point, pause/resume music, next/previous song, unread SMS/gmail (voice them out), volume<х>, lock your phone, take a photo, take a selfie. You can also turn on the voice recorder, control the backlight, auto-rotate the screen. With root, you can turn off/restart your phone, clear notifications, turn on airplane mode. For supported functions, you can change the commands to your own. It also has integration with Tasker, allowing you to enable triggering for each task by the name Task. There is a module for Xposed that allows you to use Commandr with Android Wear.

3 Assistant Dusya

And finally, the brainchild of Russian developers is the Russian-speaking voice assistant Dusya, which combines all the advantages of the described applications and utilities. Like Tasker, Dusya allows you to create your own voice functions (they are called "scripts"), and in a much more understandable and simple form (there is help in Russian, video tutorials) and with more powerful functions for working with speech commands. In addition, there is also an online catalog of ready-made scripts created by other users. At the time of writing, there were about a hundred of them.

Just like Commandr, Dusya can integrate with Google Now, and also has many types of other contactless activations - shaking, waving, headset, bringing to your ear, including your activation phrase in Russian. And if you want to use the interface, then it is there, very simple, fast and functional. Among the functions, there are 25 most frequently requested functions, there is even control of smart homes and home theaters.

Conclusion

Today, the voice search functions in smartphones are very developed, and, as you can see, the developers offer us not just a set of commands for searching for information, but a complete smartphone control system that, with some effort, can be integrated with a home computer and even a smart home. So if you're more comfortable managing it all with your voice, you've got everything you need to do it.

Contrary to the opinion that Okay Google is not installed on a computer, it is quite possible to install it on your home PC or laptop.

Moreover, this service can be used from a regular tablet, and from any other device where you can install the Google Chrome browser.

How to make it so that you can use OK Google on a PC, we will consider further.

Installing OK Google

If everything is extremely simple with installation on an Android phone - on Google Play you need to click the appropriate button - then on a computer it is even easier!

True, again, this requires a browser Google Chrome.

If you don't have Google Chrome browser, you need to download it. You can do this for free on the page google.ru/chrome/browser/desktop/ .

There is only one button that you need to click on - "Download Chrome". We press.

After that, open the downloaded file.

In the Opera browser, for example, the easiest way to do this is to click on the downloads icon (highlighted in green in the figure), find the file associated with Chrome (highlighted in red) and double-click on it.

You can also do this by simply opening the downloads folder.

A small note: After you click on the "Download Chrome" button, a window will appear as shown in the figure below.

There you can check or uncheck the box highlighted in red.

The item “Set Google Chrome as the default browser” will mean that this browser will become the main one, that is, all links will be opened through it and all accounts will be recorded there.

If you mainly use another Internet surfing program, it is better to uncheck this item.

The second item "Allow automatic sending of statistics ..." means that all your data (and sometimes passwords) will be sent to Google specialists.

If you do not want personal information to be available to Google employees, it is better not to check this box.

It is interesting: inWindows10 uses technology that allows employeesMicrosoft know everything about a particular user - his passwords, personal data, notes, browser history and much more. This was one of the reasons for the low popularityWindows10 on the market. As you can see, in almost all modern popular services, the user can enable administrators to freely use his personal data, and sometimes without knowing it, as in the case ofWindows10. But when installingGoogle Chromethis can be avoided.

After that, the browser will be installed.

How to turn on OK Google

In the Google Chrome browser, voice search should be set by default, right on the start page. It can be seen in the figure shown by the arrows.

So, to use this service, you just need to click on this same icon.

But there are times when something goes wrong and there is no such icon. Then you need to enable voice search in the settings. The sequence of actions for this is as follows:

  • Step 1. We go to the settings. To do this, click on the add-ons icon (highlighted in green in the figure) select the “Settings” item (highlighted in red frame).

  • Step 2 In the search bar (in the figure it is highlighted with a red frame), you can enter the phrase "voice search" and press the Enter button on the keyboard, then the user is automatically redirected to the "Personal data" section.
You can also find this item yourself by scrolling down the settings page.

  • Step 3 You must check the box next to the item "Enable voice search by command ...".

After that, all that remains is to go to the Google search engine page, where you can see the inscription "Say" Ok Google ". You can safely speak into your microphone any phrase that interests you.

Setting

As for how to set up the OK Google service, there is practically nothing to set up in it. To use the search, you need to click on the above icon and start talking.

Many search the Internet for information on how to make it so that you do not have to click on the corresponding icon, and the search began immediately after the person said “Ok Google”.

To do this, you just need to go to the settings and in the "Personal data" section, check the box next to the "Enable voice search ..." item. Everything is extremely simple.

To change the language you speak, you need to change the language of the entire Google, that is, go to the foreign language address of this search engine.

The easiest way to do this is by simply querying the search bar like "google in [desired language]", for example, "google in Chinese".

In general, you can also speak Russian Google directly in a foreign language - this service will sort everything out and find what you need.

Below is a visual demonstration of how to start using the OK Google service. There you can just see how to download Google Chrome and where to find voice search there.
